I’ve been rocking with smoothies for a few months now, when I purchased my NutriBullet I became a little obsessed with making smoothies.While cruising Pinterest for recipes I discovered “Simple Green Smoothies”.This site pretty much is a crash course for making the healthiest smoothies ever and home of the “Green Smoothie Challenge”. I was instantly drawn in by the simplicity of the site and i’m a sucka for beautiful food photos. The site provides you with lots of valuable information and easy smoothie recipes. Jadah and Jen are two friends on a mission to spread the Green Smoothie Love. Moms of young children plus super Busy life styles they still find time to get healthy and they created a site to help show us the way.

1. Ok ladies what’s the hype with green smoothies ?

It can be really difficult to eat healthy in a culture that is constantly on the move. We are used eating foods that are pre-made for us, or foods that can be cooked in a short amount of time. Usually, these types of foods are not good for our bodies due to additives and preservatives. People love green smoothies for many reasons, but we think the hype comes from how easy and quick they are to make while still giving your body tons of nutrients that it craves. People love finding simple ways to consume healthy foods that taste great, and that’s exactly what green smoothies are— nature’s fast food.

2. Why should we add green smoothies to our diets ?

Green Smoothies are a simple way to incorporate a healthy amount of greens into our daily diets. Leafy greens have more valuable nutrients than any other food groups. They contain high-quality amino acids, important minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, and beneficial phytochemicals. More simply put, we love green smoothies for five main reasons:

1) Natural energy boost

2) Natural weight loss drink

3) Simple way to boost your immune system

4) Full of disease-fighting antioxidants

5) Hands down–the best fast food

3. What sparked you ladies become so passionate about your Green Smoothie movement?

Green smoothies changes both of our lives dramatically!  Jadah lost 25 pounds when she started drinking one green smoothie a day. Jen was able to replace her Starbucks addiction for a cup of leafy greens and had more energy than before. When you experience something that amazing first hand, you can’t help but share it with others. We started with our husbands and then got our kids drinking green smoothies— and from there it began to spread. We wanted to help as many people as we could learn about green smoothies— and that’s where Simple Green Smoothies began.

4. How would you convince the guys that Green Smoothies are not girly and that they can benefit too?

There are lots of guys who drink green smoothies in place of the shakes that they drink before/after their workouts. This is a great way to get the protein that they are looking for, especially if they add some of the “superfoods” that we recommend. Also, instead of using a somewhat girly-looking mason jar, they can drink their green smoothies from their favorite beer mug or something manly like that!

5. What makes a better smoothie ice or frozen fruit ? None dairy or dairy?

We personally think that frozen fruit is a better way to chill your smoothies than using ice–it just gives a better consistency, and we almost always have some kind of frozen fruit on hand. We also prefer to use non-dairy items since dairy is a common allergy and can also create a lot of mucous for our bodies to process. There are lots of great alternatives that have more nutritious content (i.e. almond milk, rice milk). That being said, we don’t discriminate against those who do use ice or dairy! We want people to be able to make smoothies that work the best for them— the goal is to pack in those leafy greens one way or another!

6. What would you love to see happen with your Green Smoothie movement in years to come?

We would love to have green smoothies be a part of school lunches— children need these nutrients and we can’t think of a better way to get them to consume all this fruit and veggies than in green smoothies. We just want people to be healthy, to feel great and live long lives. Nutrition is such a vital part of this and the more people we can educate about green smoothies, the better the world will be! So we would love to just see Simple Green Smoothies reach as many people as possible.
