Long Live McQueen
I didn’t personally know Lee Alexander McQueen, and yet I find myself at a loss for words in the wake of his passing. I’ve never been more respecting of the works of ANY designer because, unlike the majority of the designers out of Seville Row, McQueen didn’t try to take risks… because he was a risk. His eye fashion work exemplified his own diverse feelings and isms, and was edgy and diverse in a realm often dominated by following trends and streaks. He allowed himself to completely be engulfed by his gift Alexander crafted a journey of his life into new worlds of his dreams out of fabrics and metals and love… and that is positively dynamic. He created, in his brand Alexander McQueen, something that was a beautiful blend both man and machine with the loving artistry of the man always overshadowing the corporate machine built to give it to the world.

People say there is no difference between artists and I, with my whole heart and being, completely stand opposed. An artist like McQueen, who completely engulfed every wonderful place within his being into the spaces between fabrics and dreams and gave them to us as art in motion. He gives so much to us that he left nothing for himself, a selfless artist until the very last. He had grown beyond the word “designer” ages ago and had begun evolving into the realms akin to simply being an idea… an intoxicating thought of visual beauty. ANYONE can design, pattern, sew, and sell a dress… but the McQueen dresses were alive and if you could silence yourself long enough after the sheer awe of seeing one you would find yourself hearing them leaning in close and whispering to you
“…dream with me”
And So, I honor you Lee Alexander McQueen. I honor your works that shall long echo in my heart of my vision. Thank you for to giving us everything that you were to always remember to not try to stay ahead of the curve but to always simply stay. Be one with your dreams now, be at peace.
